WHAT IS @kcp_artstudio or Karen Colangelo Painting Art Studio?

We are a fun, inspired art studio and events venue that offers: art classes/workshops for any age consisting of sketching, drawing, or painting lessons/activities, painted clay activities, portfolio review submission workshops, acrylic pour workshops, resin workshops, guided painting workshops, paint night event, painting parties, corporate events, any occasion parties, and so much more! We use the acrylic medium in our studio for freestyle painting and art/clay activities. We do offer separate lessons in watercolour.

Our guests can paint free-style or take a private lesson. All painting materials are included in price based on each individual art scenario. Our guests can bring in their own images to replicate, also we have a variety of images to use as a starting point for your painting. Karen is available to guide you and offer her experience and artistic skills to help you achieve your final work of art. Time frame for all classes is 1.5 hours.

If you decide to use our studio and bring in your own materials to paint please note we do charge a $40+tax studio fee for a 1.5 hour time limit.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FREESTYLE PAINTING AND ART ACTIVITIES?

Freestyle painting is an open painting session where the individual freely paints what they choose. Typically freestyle painting is 18+. The image can be from their own research or from one of the many images provided as a starting point in out studio. Instruction and guidance are included from our instructors during the paint session. The size of the canvas is 11″x14″. If you would like to size up for freestyle painting to a: 16″x12″ then add $5 or 16″x20″ canvas then add $10 to the regular price. Class length is 2 hours.

Art Activities Ages 5-11 andor 12-17 combine painting and drawing exercises in one class. The individual picks the image they would like to paint. Instruction and guidance are included from our instructors during the paint session. The size of the canvas is 12″x12″ or 11″x14″. If time permits the individual can engage in some drawing exercises once the painting is complete. Class length is 1.5 hours.

HOW DO I BOOK A CLASS OR AN EVENT?

All of our paint sessions and scenarios are booked by appointment. You are more than welcome to give us a call first! Pre-determined classes and workshops can be booked online in the pop-up tab below under “Artistic Services Click Here.” We do ask you to pre-pay for your class to ensure your seat as we do have a wait list that is currently active for time slots. We do accept walk-ins during our regular business hours only is space can be made available. It is recommended to call Karen and discuss your creative and artistic needs and to ensure the studio is open.

CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING

Please note we do not offer refunds for classes/activities/events. If you need to reschedule or cancel your booked class, we ask that you do so within 24 hours of the date. We cannot offer a refund as we are in high demand for time slot availability, this also applies to group events.

Our cancellation policy is as follows: You can cancel and reschedule a lesson 24 hours prior to the class. If you cancel in less than 24 hours you will be charged and be considered “absent” for the class.
If a class is cancelled on the day of the class, this does not give the studio enough time to provide a time slot for other guests. If you are late for the class, no problem!

GIFT CERTIFICATES

Gift certificates can be issued for any denomination or artistic service. Please note that the original gift certificate must be presented to redeem the service. If you have received a digital version please show the link to when the gift certificate was sent to you via the vcita online scheduler. We do not accept gift certificates in photocopied formats. This protects the person to whom the gift certificate was issued.

Please note our gift certificates do expire after 12 months. So it is advised to redeem and book your art scenario within that time frame. Some exceptions do apply.

DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS

We ask that a deposit of one (1) patron for your event be paid to hold the time slot for your party/event. For larger events (10+), we ask for a deposit of (5) patrons. This deposit is non-refundable and if no event is booked then the deposit can be put towards another service offered by the studio. The remaining balance of the event/party will be due the day of the event, paid through the studio’s online payment link before the start of the event.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THE STUDIO ACCOMMODATE?

Our studio is quaint, personal, and intimate, the perfect studio experience for any event. We can accommodate (12) persons = (10) painters/drawers, and (2) adults for any service or event. All of our artistic services other than parties are in 1.5-hour intervals. Please arrive on time for your booked appointment.

DO YOU SERVE FOOD OR BEVERAGES AND IS YOUR STUDIO NUT-FREE?

We do permit small pre-packaged food items and beverages with a closed lid in the studio. If parents send a snack with their child during a lesson please note our studio is nut/peanut-free. All garbage waste is to be returned back with the guest.

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?

There are parking meters on the street outside the studio with time designations. Currently, the rate is $1.50 per hour with a 3-hour limit. Occasionally, parking is free if the meter has a parking bag over the payment terminal i.e. Holiday Hours at Christmas.

There is a Green P Parking Lot at the Northeast corner of Lakeshore Road East and Elmwood Avenue. It is attached to the LCBO. You have the option to park here for FREE. Please follow the parking designation on the sign for the hour limit. It is a short walk west of the studio. Please use the crosswalk at the set of lights and then head west. Our studio is on the south side of the street.

BOOKING A CLASS FOR MORE THAN 1 PERSON.

Booking a single class is easy by selecting the bottom right “artistic services pop-up menu” on the home page. Next is to select the service, then the date and time, and finally the payment method. As of now, you can only book (1) class. You can however use a different name with the same email address. My online booking scheduler is being updated soon to allow for multiple bookings for a service. KCP ART STUDIO CO-OP PLACEMENT

Our studio is proud to offer a placement for highschool students. KCP Art Studio placement students can develop skills like communication, time management, teamwork, problem solving, and conflict resolution in the various scenarios that occur in our space. Teachers are encouraged to call Karen to discuss placements opportunities 416-294-3085.
