Painted Furniture & Other work

Karen can produce painted, usable furniture for your home or office. These chairs add a little excitement and flavour to any interior.

This chair was purchased new, although Karen can paint on used furniture.

The Collingwood BIA selected my chair design submission to be included in the 2024 Collingwood Ontario Art on the Street project.

More details will follow on the display during the summer of 2024 and auction details for this chair in the Fall of 2024. The final pictures are to be posted soon.

Karen’s vision for her painted furniture is inspired by the increasing volume of waste accumulated in landfills yearly. Karen feels that re-painting a piece of furniture breathes new life into the work and gives the piece one last chance in the spot life. Her furniture is transformed into pieces of art, allowing the discussion of combining vintage pieces with modern contemporary styles. Again, Karen involves her concept of contradiction in her pieces whereby an old piece becomes new again.

The chairs below were painted for Raw Organic Cuisine Restaurant in Port Credit, Mississauga Ontario.

The vintage chair and ottoman below were painted for a local art patron in Mississauga Ontario.

Painted Wolf below by Karen Colangelo, for Festival Du Loup 2023 in Lafontaine Ontario. All proceeds from the auction of over 150 wolves, benefitted the Simcoe County Cancer Center.
