Creative Aging Art Programs for Seniors and Memory Care Communities
For the past three years, I have had the privilege of working directly with seniors in long-term care and retirement communities, including residents living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
My programs are designed to provide a positive, supportive, and engaging creative experience that encourages self-expression, social interaction, reminiscence, and a sense of accomplishment. Through guided canvas painting sessions, participants are able to explore their creativity in a relaxed environment while enjoying meaningful conversation and connection with others.
I understand that every resident has unique abilities, life experiences, and personal stories. My approach focuses on creating accessible art experiences that emphasize enjoyment, participation, and success rather than artistic skill or perfection.
Each session/package below includes:
– All painting materials are supplied
– Pre-drawn canvas design when appropriate
– Step-by-step instruction
– Adaptations for varying abilities
– Set-up and clean-up
– A completed canvas painting for each participant to take pride in
My experience working with individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s has shown me the powerful role that creative activities can play in supporting engagement, confidence, memory recall, and emotional well-being.
Workshop Fees:
PACKAGE 1 Canvas Painting Workshop (1 Hour) 1–9 participants: $200 + HST PACKAGE 2 Canvas Painting Workshop (1 Hour) 10–19 participants: $350 + HST PACKAGE 3 Canvas Painting Workshop (1 Hour) 20 + participants $500 + HST Assistant will be required at an additional cost of $50 + HST Service Area Available for: ~ long-term care homes, ~ retirement residences, ~ adult day programs, ~ seniors' centres, ~ community organizations throughout Mississauga, Oakville, Etobicoke, Brampton, and the Greater Toronto Area. Artwork Themes and Subject Matter Each workshop features a unique painting project selected and designed by the instructor. Artwork themes are thoughtfully chosen based on seasonal inspiration, creative aging principles, participant abilities, and opportunities for reminiscence and engagement. Painting subjects may include landscapes, gardens, birds, flowers, cottages, lakeside scenes, seasonal celebrations, wildlife, and other imagery that encourages creativity, conversation, and personal connection. Participants can look forward to creating a different painting during each visit, providing a fresh and enjoyable artistic experience throughout the year.
